
The fight broke out between the followers of Guru Ravi Das of “Dera Sach Khand” and conventional Sikhs after the killing of Sant Rama Nand from the Dera Sach Khand. The 57-year-old Sikh guru was killed in Vienna (Austria). Today on 25 May, the Indian army was positioned in Jalandhar city in the northern state of Punjab and curfew was declared indefinitely the violent protestors were to shoot on sight that blocks rail road and traffic.
The clash started after the killing of Guru Sant Rama Nand from the “Dera Sach Khand” who was 57 years old at the time, supporters of the Sikh Gure armed with sticks and swords rammed and burned everything in their way while passing through the streets blocking most of the road in the area. The road traffic is suspended since Sunday night.
According to the reports no one was injured or killed up till this point during the clashes but number of bank ATM machines and vehicles parked on the streets has been set to fire, whereas the government buildings in jalandhar were also been targeted.
After the news spread in Punjab about the killing of Sikh Guru in Dera Sach Khand protestors blocked highways and set railway coaches on fire, according to reports mob attacked a police station too and set on fire all the vehicles parked inside the station. Police responded by firing into the air to scatter the protestors.
An indefinite curfew has been declared by the Indian army to stop the violent attacks, whereas the Punjab government blocked all TV News Channels in the area to make sure that the violence does not spread to other parts of the state or elsewhere in India.
