The real breakthrough in life for Billionaire, Donald Bren came when he formed a company to develop a city spanning over 10,000 acres named Mission Viejo, California. The company itself was named on the project – MVC or Mission Viejo, California. The construction company was sold at a tag of $34 Million. As the fate would have it, construction market came tumbling down, as the recession hit the economy hard. It forced the buyer of the company to sell it back to Donald Bren at $22 Million. The deal proved enough for entrepreneur to set his firm footings in the ground.
Starting from building a single house with the loan money Donald Bren is now in Forbe’s 400 lists for being one of the richest of rich, with a net worth estimated over $12 Billion. He owns the Irvine Company. Originally the Irvine Company was bought with the equity shared by the investors. Donald Bren had the biggest chunk. He now has bought all the shares and has established himself as the sole owner.
Donald Bren is now the wealthiest American in real estate business.
Bren, 71, is staunch Republican and has supported Mc Cain and Sara Palin in Presidential elections. He is involved in a high profile case with one of his former girlfriend, who wants more money from Bren in child support.
He takes an active part in philanthropic activities, has a law school at his name the UCI Donald Bren School of Law and is a member of many philanthropic organizations.
