Today Shaun White did something that would keep the entire viewing population of the world stunned for a long time to come. As millions of people watched the Mens Halfpipe Finals of the winter Olympics being held in Vancouver, Canada, Shaun White pulled a Double McTwist 1260 in his second run. No one has ever seen such a perfect execution of the Double McTwist 1260 and it was worth it for Shaun because it got him the Gold.
Though Shaun had gotten gold even without doing his second run, I think one of the reasons that he went for his second run anyway, other than wanting to try a new routine, was to pull of an immaculate double McTwist 1260.
In his first run when he had already achieved the gold position at the highest score for the day of forty-six point eight the silver medalist was roughly two points behind him, after pulling the double McTwist 1260 which absolutely stunned the audience, the judges also showed signs of being left impressed when they scored him at forty-eight point four, a mere one point six away from a flawless run.
Rumor has it that Red Bull has sponsored a half a million dollar Halfpipe for Shaun in some remote location in Colorado. He practices there a lot and it is one of the reasons that both his runs were so smooth. The confidence comes from all the years of practice he has put in. Shaun makes as much as eight million dollars a year through endorsements and this Halfpipe that has been ‘gifted’ to him is located at such a random location that it can only be accessed by helicopter.
