Dreamliner is being said the future of air transportation. Dreamliner first test flight is scheduled today. Boeing’s new 787 first flight would have to wait for a ‘go ahead’ from the authorities having a look at the weather pattern and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). It is to be noted that 787 Dreamliner would touch skies after the whole project has lagged behind in schedule.
In the wake of economic crisis Boeing has tested new material that can withstand extreme pressure and temperature and yet do not cost as much as Aluminium do.
The first client to whom the plane would be given is a Japanese Airline.
Boeing is a direct competitor of Airbus. The delay in manufacturing the plane affects the Boeing’s efforts to maintain its market leader position.
The new materials used would not only reduce the manufacturing costs but also greatly enhance the fuel efficiency.
Boeing has been confident that Dreamliner would not be a gas guzzler as much as the other competing air craft’s are.
The company announced that Dreamliner’s fuel tanks have already been filled and the FAA and weather approval is all that is needed to test flight the revolutionary new jet liner.
Dreamliner project starting in 2004 was planned to be completed within 4 years. However the delays have pushed the date beyond 2009.
Just last month a change was made in the 787′s structure.
Company engineers were enthusiastic as the fix had been made and all the testing on the ground completed.
Airbus’ answer to Dreamliner is expected to come within 4 years time.
