The Droid phone is the new buzz of the town. The Droid is the same phone which was in the news with the names like Shole and Tao. Phone is built on a 600MHz processor and runs Android 2.0 by Google. Despite having a touch screen it comes equipped with a QWERTY sliding keyboard. It has many kool features except that it is built by Motorola! Motorola has been infamous for its below average phones. We would be tracking how people receive this new effort by Motorola.
The launch date is not announced as yet but it has not kept people from guessing. There are many expected launch dates circulating on the web, but the most credible one seems to be the night between 30th October and 1st November. The Droid website may not be announcing the launch date, what it does have is an ad of the phone. The commercial has much to do with the buzz created about the phone. As the ad starts, there are no graphics just black texts on the white back ground coming into focus. As you watch the texts something clicks in the mind, the text looks familiar. O.K you move on, then the text claims that it does not have a keyboard to lay hands on, it also cannot multi task. Then comes, the text that it is not customizable and that it does not allow software development and does not have a respectable camera. The ad itself is being named as “iDon’t ad”. As the ad ends the words flash “Droid Does”. And Bingo you know that the text was pointing towards Apple iPhone.
Let’s see whether it is able to penetrate into iPhone market or is just another flop.
