Early on a Wednesday morning the citizens of Illinois were awaken to a brief rumbling that shook the region of northern Illinois. Measuring a four point three on the Richter scale, Earthquake il shook the homes of many a residents for a brief duration of five seconds. Earthquake il can be considered more of a tremor for the length of its duration and its reading on the Richter scale.
The geological survey says that the epicenter was measured to be at a distance of three miles deep while lying at an almost equidistant location from Sycamore, Virgil and Maple Park. So far no reports of damages have been confirmed but it has been made clear that a tremor of such magnitude has the capacity to affect areas as far as sixty miles away from it. This implication means that all regions that lie within a sixty mile radius from the epicenter are likely to feel the vibrations of the earthquake. If the reading had been only one point higher the consequences would spread to a radius of three hundred miles.
One citizen mentions how her whole kitchen shook and she at first thought it to be a passing freight train but later found out what she had actually experienced. She says that it is the first time that she had experienced such a tremor.
Chicago which lies at a mere forty-eight mile distance from the epicenter also felt the vibrations as the citizens laid fast asleep just moments before five o’clock. Keep tuned to the radio channels and further postings for reports of any damages that might have been caused by the earthquake il.
