The traditional Eastern time has been changed to the Daylight time which is now expressed as EDT and not EST. The daylight saving hours have been made effective as of today will change the times on the clocks nationwide by putting them an hour ahead. So if the hour hand of the watch or clock you possess is on five right now then you can shift it to six and that will be the official time that will be recognized in whichever city or state you might be in.
The Eastern time was changed at two a.m. today though I don’t quite understand why exactly that hour was chosen to change the official time but I’m sure the government has it’s reasons. The new Eastern time will remain in effect for a the months falling between March and November 2010 and the time will be brought back to it’s previous regulation on the seventh day of November. The time change takes place every year as a measure to better utilize the longer hours of sunlight that occur every year with the coming of spring and summers.
The main advantage of this change is the cost reduction in energy bills since there are more hours of sunshine, less lighting is required through the day and since less lights are being used, less electricity is being consumed, and since lesser electricity is being used lesser electricity needs to be produced and when the production of megawatts is reduced then the use of natural resources is also reduced as both are related to each other in a directly proportional relationship.
