Edis Kayalar has been convicted in a blackmail case involving Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia’s picture who is eight now. Reportedly Edis Kayalar told Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber that he possessed a photograph of their daughter in which she is bound with a chair and her mouth has been gagged.
Kayalar wanted $ 1 million for not making the picture public.
According to the details of the case, Edis Kayalar was a friend of the Nanny who took care of Cindy Crawford’s two children, Kaia 8 years old and Presley 10 years old. Nanny took the picture of Kaia while playing “cops and thieves” with children. Kayalar stole the picture and then contacted Cindy by tracing her number from Nanny’s cell phone.
As Kaia’s father Gerber came to know about the matter, he arranged a meeting with Edis Kayalar at a bar. During the meeting he payed Kayalar some $1000 to get the picture.
The family thought the matter was over; however Edis Kayalar resurfaced and asked more money for the picture forcing the family to get the help of law enforcing agencies.
Edis Kayalar was charged and was extradited to Germany, where as Nanny has not been charged because she maintained that the picture was taken in a light hearted manner during the play and it was stolen from her.
As Edis was caught, he told that he initially wanted to return the picture back to Cindy Crawford and Gerber as he did not want to make the picture public.
