Edward Woodward has passed away. Legendary actor Edward Woodward has died at the age of 79. Edward Woodward was suffering with multiple illnesses according to Janet Glass. She told the press that Edward Woodward was suffering with pneumonia and died in the hospital surrounded by his family members. She mentioned that Woodward had been ill for past many months. Edward Woodward died at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. He was last seen on TV in soap titled EastEnders on BBC one. He played the character of Tommy Clifford.
Edward Woodward is survived by four children and his second wife Michele Dotrice.
Edward Woodward was born in Croydon. His passion for acting was blossoming at young age. He joined Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and later began working as a stage actor at Castle Theater. Initially, he was confused between choosing football and acting as his career but a knee injury kept him away from joining the team. He graduated from RADA and worked extensively in Shakespearean plays. He debuted as a film actor in the 1955 Where There’s A Will and also appeared in Romeo and Juliet, and Hamlet for West End. He established himself as Broadway actor and appeared in the famous High Spirits which won him three Tony Awards.
As mentioned earlier, Woodward’s film career started in 1955. He is most famously known for thriller The Wicker Man. Many film critics have declared his movie’s final scene as one of the greatest cinematic moment of the history. He later did many cameos in various films occasionally.
