What started out as a small spring party and a picnic has turned out to be quite the event in Texas as Eeyore’s Birthday party kicked off today with people from around Texas – and I wouldn’t be surprised if people from other states also flocked in – go to Pease Park in Austin to celebrate Eeyore’s Birthday party. The whole traditions of Eeyore’s Birthday party started out in the annum of 1963 when and English professor at the University of Texas at Austin took his students to a field trip. The party was later on moved to the Pease Park in the annum of 1974 where it has been celebrated since then.
The Eeyore’s Birthday party is named that because of a certain fictional character in the much watched cartoon Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore is a donkey who is mostly depressed. In one such episode of the cartoon Eeyore thinks that every one of his friends has forgotten about his birthday but it turns out – much to his liking – that it was just a matter of surprising him and that is why no one let it on that they knew about his birthday.
The event is not actually related to the actual birthday of Eeyore and it is a function that is mostly attended by families as they are given a wide array of things to do relating to each one of the family members’ interest. The proceeds of the Eeyore’s Birthday are given to a local non-profit organization and there is food and drink in plenty for anyone who wishes to go.
