48 years old R&B singer, lyricist and composer, El Debarge is thought to be a born prodigy, however like other genius people he has his dark side also. The artist is under custody for crimes related to domestic violence and possessing illegal recreational substances. El Debarge started his career while still a child. He used to sing for church choir.
As he grew up, he formed a band with his family members. However real break in musical career came for the artist with his solo albums. With the family band his first album “The DeBarges”. The album was received coldly and people soon forgot the band. Debarges’ second album “All This Love” brought them into lime light. The album included hit tracks like, “Stop! Don’t tease me”. The group had discovered the winning formula and went on to release their third and fourth albums titled “In a Special Way” and “Rhythm of the Night”.
As the artist decided to go solo, he debuted with his album, “Who’s Johnny”. The track “Who’s Johnny” is considered El Debarge’s best work and the real reason behind his popularity. The song featured in a film also.
After the first solo album, the artist took a break and in 1989 released his second solo album. El Debarge had won the acclaim of the critics and public alike. Warner Brothers released his third solo album,”In the Storm”.
