24-years-old Eliot Kalmbach died while trekking to Teewinot Mountain on Tuesday afternoon.
The hiker, Eliot Kalmbach, went to the Grand Teton National Park on the trekking of Teewinot Mountain where he fell off and died. It was the first death in the park after its establishment. The Teton County Policeman Bob Campbell identified him Eliot as resident of Pennsylvania. Eliot was visiting the Teton country to meet his friend. Although the details are not confirmed about the reason of his death, the park officials have said that they believe the two hikers were scrambling up the mountain at 1 p.m. and fell off. The second hiker was identified as John by the park officials. No information is available about his surname yet.
According to the park officials, the two hikers were traveling across the country while the accident happened. The park officials said that the according to their best estimates the two took a route which was not very easy for trekking. They said that the route is usually stranded and not many use the track. The officials also said that the two hikers did not have any rope or helmet with them which is generally required for trekking on these tough routes.
John, the second hiker, escaped the death but was ‘too distraught’ to tell anything about the accident. He told the investigators that Eliot was not breathing and his pulse was dead. Rescuers recovered the dead body of Eliot from the south side of the mountain above a landmark called Delta Lake.
Eliot’s family members said that he died of doing what he loved to do.
