Endy Chavez injures his knee in a collision with his teammate “Yuniesky Betancourt”. I have seen comments posted by some fans criticizing “Betancourt” for injuring his teammate left fielder Endy Chavez in last Friday game, but after seeing the video I must say you cannot held Betancourt accountable for their collision.
Betancourt has turn out to be a preferred thrashing lad for Mariners fans and with lot of motives for his lack of plate discipline and on occasions, relaxed advancement in the field, but this was not his mistake and he can be be held accountable for.
The ball was hit in no man’s land, straight between two fielders “Yuniesky Betancourt and Endy Chavez”, both rushed to make the catch. You cannot criticize Betancourt for being sluggish on one hand, and then tear him for producing an unbelievable, hustling catch on this one.
It was unfortunate that both were looking at the ball and not each other none of them wanted to lose the opportunity to take a great catch. This is true that Chavez called for the ball but in the last second, it was too late for Betancourt to change the way or stop.
