Yesterday morning on 2nd of June 2009 the Sony press conference was held at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. It was announced that FFXIV online “Final Fantasy XI” is going to be launched as an exclusive title of PS3. The “FFXIV online” title is planned to launch in 2010, exclusively for PS3. At the Sony press conference a very short trailer of “FFXIV online” was shown but the scenes are recognizably with the rich Final Fantasy art style on full display.
The last “FFXI online” game was firstly released in the U.S. in 2004 initially for PC and PS2, but before that it was released in Japan in 2002. In 2006 it was transferred to Xbox 360, but “Square Enix” still has the rights to control the title.
The trailer for “FFXIV online” opened gradually with some landscape and soon converted into a battle sequence which shows the battling scene with some giant insects, soon after another scene followed in which ship in the sea was shown with a determined friendly dragon, then the screen shifts again to a enormous air-battle, with mechanical airships battling around with fire-breathing dragons.
The “FFXIV online” trailer appears to be little more than a platform for the improved FFXIV art but this is all what I know and that was all what they have shown in the press conference. I guess; we all Sony PS3 lovers have to wait until the release of “FFXIV online” in 2010, for our viewing and playing pleasures.
