First Lady who is descendent of Pocahontas is Nancy Reagan. Pocahontas story is all too familiar. Pocahontas was the daughter of a tribal chief Powhatan. As English settlers came to Virginia they were not treated very well. Pocahontas not only saved John Smith from execution but also brought food and other goodies to the settlers. Pocahontas story is a controversial one, and is very much the subject of discussion among historians. As Pocahontas married Rolfe, they had one baby boy to themselves. Nancy Reagan former first lady is descendent of that boy. Nancy Reagan is remembered as very powerful First Lady having a strong role in Reagan Administration’s decisions. First Lady was an actress and her popular films include “Donovan’s Brain”, “Night into Morning”, and “Hellcats of the Navy”. First Lady was highly criticized in the early years of White House. First issue was the replacement of the cutlery and then she was criticized for glamorizing the White House.
First lady is credited for the laws against the addictive drugs for which she launched a campaign titled “Just Say No!” Her love for her husband came into spotlight as Reagan was attacked. Reportedly she used to sleep with the shirt of President as it smelled of Reagan. She publicly stated that after the assassination attempt it became impossible for her to see Reagan go anywhere.
First Lady Nancy Reagan was diagnosed with breast cancer and got her breast removed. Her example helped woman to decide in favor of the procedure.
