The Flag Day is being celebrated in the United States of America. The Flag Day is the very day when the current American flag was declared to be the national flag of the America. The day is not celebrated by giving a federal holiday, but in some states like Pennsylvania the day is celebrated by giving a national holiday.
The day was not celebrated in history the way it is done today. Officially congress established it by an act about sixty one years ago. Before that the day was celebrated buy some patriotic people. George Morris is a memorable name among the people who celebrated this day more than a century ago. Bernard J. Cigrand celebrated the day at his school in a very patriotic manner. He provoked people to recognize the day when America was given a symbol of respect, and he demanded national observance of the Flag Day. He later on became the leader of a society which commemorated and demanded the day to be celebrated at national level. He was quite successful and his cause came into the eyes of many people, as his thoughts were also published in some news papers. He commemorated the day as a public schools ceremony and was able to gather three hundred thousand children who took part in the celebrations.
Now a day when the June 14 has been recognized as a national day, a number of parades take place in different parts of the country, the biggest one being the one in Troy. People are celebrating the Flag day with national spirit.
