Fred Schneider is the musician who is responsible for creating the band known as The B-52′s. The band makes new wave music, a term which came around in the mid seventies. New wave music was akin to the punk rock genre and in the year 1976 was used as the same term as punk rock but when the year 1977 ended new wave was more widely used to describe the genre of new underground music in Great Britain.
Fred Schneider, who plays the cowbell and sings for the band, was born on the first day of July in the year 1951 in Newark, the largest metropolis in New Jersey. Fred Schneider introduced sprechgesang to the Athens-Clarke County in Georgia, America, by making songs which held the unique technique of talking during the song. Well its not exactly talking, it’s kind of talking in a sing-along style.
Fred Schneider never actually wanted to become a musician when he was a child, he was more interested in poetry and he had written a whole book of poetry as his final project for college. After graduating Fred Schneider did some low level jobs which included being a janitor and a driver for these eateries that offer meals on wheels. In an interview he once said that as a child he was interested in those cheesy Christmas songs and Halloween songs apart from finding interest in Motown records publications.
Since then Fred Schneider has been busy with other ventures as well, releasing two solo albums. Apart from those two albums Fred Schneider has also released a single by the name of “Totally Nude Island” which was made available through the iTunes store a couple of years ago.
