The recent shooting in Fort Hood military base has made the wounds of another massacre in the area, bleed again. George Hennard went on a shooting spree killing 23 people and wounding 20 others. The event is known as Luby’s massacre after the name of the restaurant where the killings took place.
As George Hennard committed suicide after the shooting, it would never become clear, what had made him do what he did? There was a cinema ticket in one of George Hennard’s pocket indicating that the killer had watched “Fisher King” the previous night. Apparently the movie had deep impact on his psyche. The movie was about a man who was a die-hard fan of a DJ. As DJ appeared in a radio program he passed some remarks which offended the fan and he went to a restaurant and opened the fire on the people present there. The same scene of the film was given a reality by the George Hennard’s killing spree. He had a habit of telling people stories that made them think that Hennard were a crank.
Deeply studying George Hennard’s life, there is one thing that indicates towards his deranged personality that is his relations with his mother. He used to call his mother a snake full of poison. His exaggerated hatred towards the woman could also be traced to his relationships with his mother.
As he drove his ford truck into the restaurant, he killed an old man first. He had two guns to himself. He just let a woman with a child leave the restaurant.
The recent shooting in the Fort Hood were undertaken by a military Major named Malik Nadal Hasan. However the shooter has been caught alive this time.
