Is George Smoot who won 2006 Nobel Prize for Big Bang Theory of the creation of universe and also won $1 million TV quiz show prize winner, smarter than a 5th Grader, is yet to be determined in the Fox Channel’s “Are You Smarter than A 5th Grader?” in its special season finale!
George was born on February 20, 1945 in Yukon – Florida. He is an Experimental Astrophysicist, an active researcher in observational astrophysics and cosmology. His group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California is actively researching the primitive radiations that would have been resulted at the time of the creation of the Universe.
His research interests include outer space satellites, most famous of which are COBE (the NASA Cosmic Background Explorer satellite), balloon-borne instrumentation and universal radiation analysis.
By analyzing the data George Smoot and colleagues have built a map of the primitive universe that shaped the present day galaxies. His observation have also resulted in a wealth of information about the Big Bang theory of the creation of the universe.
George Smoot is providing much needed and valuable consultation for the European Space Agency’s new space satellite enabling it to send more precise information. He is also the author of an authoritative work on cosmology titled “Wrinkles in Time”.
In the end it remains to be seen whether George Smoot is Smarter than A 5th Grader or not? Fox dubs him “the smartest contestant” in the shows history.
