Yankees have defeated Philadelphia Phillies and have won the World Series title. But the sad thing about the match is that “Boss” watched the match on TV at home. Yankees have won the title seven times before when George bought Yankees 36 year back.
Marione Rivera really missed the boss on the victory celebrations and expressed his honor for him because he is the most vital factor in the victory and he wanted to embrace him on this historic moment.
George, who was with the team in some initial games, went back to his home along with his spouse. Now his son Hal Steinbrenner manages all team affairs along with his brother and sister as partners. His son told about the health of his father George that he is alright and his absence is only physical but he is with us spiritually.
He was very apprehensive and anxious about the final game like his son. He said all credit goes to his father and dedicated the success to his father’s name. Selig who is an intimate friend of the boss, who had been dealing with delegation of powers from George to Hal, told about the feelings of George (when he was watching the final game on TV) that he was very sad that he couldn’t join the team in the celebrations.
The Boss is also called as the man of controversies and is famous for his aggressive and quarrelsome approach towards game. An author has written about him: “Abusive, cruel, philanthropist, loyal, disloyal guy with a heart of gold full of kindness”.
