Having followed the events leading to the crash of Eastern Airlines Flight 401, I seriously believe that the stories of Don Repo and Bob Loft had some truth to them. O.K I am wrong, why a multimillion dollar company Eastern Airlines removed the parts of the downed aircraft from the new planes believing the suspicion that the ghost may be associated to the parts of the airliner?
Leaving the controversy alone the incident has inspired a whole generation of aviation history, film makers and authors.
Eastern Airline Flight 401 took off from John F Kennedy Airport on December 29, 1972, for Miami International Airport. As it reached its destination the pilot and co-pilot started the landing procedures, but something was wrong and as they perceived it – very wrong. The plane was lowered towards the ground but the green indicator at the nose of the airliner did not light, indicating that there was something wrong with what they are doing. As it was revealed later that the bulb was fuse. A little malfunction and the results were just fatal.
The pilots decided to abort landing and took the airliner to a height of 2000ft and put the plane on auto pilot. Without them knowing it the plane started losing the height. They also failed to notice the alarm and as plane lost enough height it just crashed on the swamps near the Miami Air Port.
Total of 103 individual died in the crash.
However the story did not end there, in fact it had just started! As the crashed airliner was dismantled, its parts were used in other aircrafts. The crew members of the aircrafts that were fitted with the parts started reporting the ghosts of Don Repo – Engineer and Captain Robert Loft.
So much so that Easter Airlines put a strict ban on spreading the rumors. HOWEVER the company totally replaced the parts of downed airliner.
