First comes Droid with Android 2.0 to compete with iPhone and now Google Onebox which is hoped to end Apple’s online music monopoly with its iTunes. ITunes was Apple’s secret weapons which Google Onebox would make not so secret.
By offering Onebox service Google has essentially entered the online music market. Google Onebox is available to the U.S citizens only, however Google is in discussion with music companies around the globe to make the service available worldwide also. It would not be very late we would be running Chrome O.S on our computers and the war would be won by Google.
Google Onebox service has been launched in collaboration with online music sites like LaLa and iLike. Users can search the music and can stream complete songs also. If someone would like to buy the track he can easily do so using the service.
After the enormous success of Youtube Google Onebox is a logical extension in the tentacles of the giant. Google having a full grip at the search industry (much to the dismay of Microsoft and its Bing search engine) has determined the music related searches top its list of searched terms. Onebox was the easy conclusion of all those search terms.
Google Onebox was launched during a ceremony in Los Angeles.
There are many budding sites especially in Europe offering the music search facility, given the Google’s resources, it is sure to dominate those small time service providers.
Next expect, Microsoft trying to buy Apple’s iTunes! Failing the guys at MS would come up with an elaborate multimillion dollars, much hyped, ultra advertised plan to launch …………Well a B Grade site mimicking Google Onebox!
