Invented in 1962, the Gorilla Glass was out of use till now. Its purpose was yet to be determined. Now its purpose has been determined and by God this thing is going to sell like fire. Gorilla Glass is type of glass as one can know by its name, only it is two to three times stronger than the ordinary chemically strengthened glass. Not only it is stronger, it is thinner, lighter, it’s hard to dent and scratch less.
Since the invention of Gorilla Glass, in the sixties, there had not been a market for such product as there was no commercial use of such glass. Also production cost was much higher at that time, making it a very expensive material to be used in normal glass products. Nowadays with new technology, better and efficient production units, the production of it is feasible and profitable enough to introduce it in the markets.
Now because of its properties such as hard to dent and scratch proofing, its major buyers are the producers of televisions, LCDs, monitors, mobile phones, laptops and almost anything with a screen. Naturally the producers of these electronics are situated in Asia, so a question rose, and precisely due to which it’s in news today, although it’s bringing in huge investments and capitol to the U.S, but will it create more jobs in U.S by introducing its extra production units?
Well, the question will be answered where Corning Inc. (pioneers of Gorilla Glass) will set up those units, because it is being speculated that Corning Inc. will set up those units in Asia to reduce their transportation cost. There has been no official statement from Corning Inc. as to what will be their decision.
