The State Investigators now started to join the “Great America” to find out the reason of Roller Coaster failure on Monday afternoon; which stuck twenty four people on the ride. According to “Jim Stellmack” (a spokesman from Great America), Invertigo ride will be close for an indefinite period as theme park workers; while on the other side Investigators from “California Division of Occupational Safety and Health” will determine the cause of Roller Coaster malfunction.
It has determined from the initial investigation that it was the lift chain which pulled the Roller Coaster from up the tracks as described by the Jim Sterllmack. Cherry pickers were used by the Rescue teams on airborne ladder trucks to take away twenty four people; who trapped between forty and eighty feet off the land. The Invertigo’s riders were being infrared at one time into pails at the ending of airborne ladders. After 5 hours when Roller Coaster stopped, all riders were back on the land about 6:00 PM.
The stuck riders were right side up and securely impoverished into the ride as said by San Jose Fire Capt. Scott Kouns.
“They’re sitting upright. They’re all being reassured by the firefighters,” he said. “They’re not hurt, there’s no injuries”.
Scott Kouns also said that all workers from Fire Department performed the high-angle rescue at the time of incident and so all riders were taken down devoid of any problem and were also given refreshment.
“They’re being fed and drinks are available to them,” Kouns said early Monday evening. “They’re being accommodated quite nicely by the Great America staff here”.
“There are people out there laughing, carrying on and talking about their experiences,” he said as the rescue was taking place.
However, “Augie Weidemann” (Santa Clara Fire Chief) blamed the occurrence on mechanical breakdown with the Invertigo.
