University of Hawaii’s Football team coach named “Greg McMackin” made an apology due to making a disparaging comment usually directed toward homosexuals on Thursday. Greg McMackin used the slur in his briefing to media at “Western Athletic Conference” about their last football season held in “Salt Lake City”.
Not just one time, he uttered this word more than 3 times as trying to clarify himself after his remark.
Afterward Greg McMackin realized his fault and returned back in front of journalists to apologize what he used (inappropriate word) in his briefing and asked them not to publish what he said.
“What I was trying to do was be funny and it wasn’t funny,” he said, according to a video recording of the discussion posted on the Idaho Statesman’s Web site. “It’s not funny. Even more, it isn’t funny to me. I was trying to make a joke and it was a bad choice of words. And I really, really feel bad about it. … It was really stupid.”
“I sincerely apologize for the inappropriate words that I used,” he said in the statement. “My comments were out of character and I have no prejudices against anyone. I’m really upset with myself and I’m truly sorry for my remarks.”
The comments made by him appeared as negative publicity to the Western Athletic Conference as described by Karl Benson (WAC commissioner). According to him, the intention was to endorse WAC in Positive Manners.
