Gustave is a huge “Nile crocodile” who living in Burundi. It is estimated that the length of Gustave Crocodile is around 22 feet (6.7 meters) and its weight is about 1.3 tons. Gustave Crocodile is the biggest crocodile that ever seen before in Africa. Gustave Crocodile is an infamous man-eater, who is supposed to have claimed as several (approximately 300) victims from the northern shores of “Lake Tanganyika” and banks of the “Ruzizi River”. As this (300) figure is expected embroidered, Gustave Crocodile has attained a near-mythical rank and is really feared by citizens in the area. Gustave Crocodile is well-known to hunt and leave its victims corpses uneaten.
Gustave was name given by “Patrice Faye” (a French resident of Burundi and self-taught natural scientist) Patrice Faye has been capturing the crocodile since 1998. In 2002, a documentary team and Patrice Faye attempted to capture Gustave Crocodile with help of a vast trap. Not only the Gustave Crocodile avoided it but also seemed to tease all the team. The detail for this wretched attempt in a fairly sensationalized documentary titled as “Capturing the Killer Croc”. “Capturing the Killer Croc” aired in May, 2004 on PBS.
It is considered that Gustave Crocodile is about 65 years of age as based on his size. The standard maximum age for a mature male “Nile crocodile” is 45 years. Because of his massive size and weight, Gustave Crocodile is almost unable of catching smaller quarry akin to little mammals, fish and so he hunts heavier animals like zebra, humans and wildebeest. Recently Gustave Crocodile was sighted by “National Geographic” source in February 2008.
