A tsunami is a series of waves that is caused by a great displacement of water which is caused by shifts in the earths’ crust beneath the surface of the ocean. When one plate sinks lower than the other, a lot of water is displaced in the process and this displacement pushes massive bodies of water further down. It’s like taking a long sheet of cloth and jerking it up and down, the sheet will form large waves that continue till the end.
