The white house officials have announced that president Obama has chosen Howard Schmidt as cybersecurity coordinator. Howard Schmidt has been advisor to Bush administration. He also served in the U.S. Air Force as well as in FBI. “Howard will have the important responsibility of orchestrating the many important cybersecurity activities across the government,” said John Brennan who is president’s security assistant.
For the implementation of cybersecurity plan, Obama has selected an advisor of his own choice. Howard Schmidt will lead from the front for the proposed computer security strategy. Brennan, in his announcement, added that Howard will have no impediment in his way for the purpose of computer security plan and he will have an immediate access to the president. He will remain a vital staff member of the president. He will not only help enhance cybersecurity measures but also in an economically feasible way. For that purpose, he will work side by side with his economic team.
Howard Schidmt has been a security executive at Microsoft and EBay Inc. He is known for his outstanding experience in the field of computer and internet protection. He has been on top-level positions not only in public sector organizations but also in the private entities and law enforcement agencies for forty years. Not only the sensitive government entities but also private companies remain under the threat of computer hacking. The hackers may attack very sensitive organizations, like military and banks, and can have access to confidential information. Obama expected that his choice will prove his worth.
