Hugues de la Plaza was found lying dead in pool of blood when the officials entered his San Francisco apartment. The death of the French-American citizen remained a mystery for quite a while as no one could know whether it was a suicide or a murder. The case of Hugues de la Plaza’s death, which occurred in 2007, has finally been concluded and police officials have ruled out the possibility of suicide. An attorney who represents Hugues’ parents has declared that his death is matter of homicide and not of suicide.
Hugues de la Plaza was a 36-year-old man who held multiple citizenships and was living in San Francisco. On a winter Saturday, he was found dead in his apartment. The police declared it a case of suicide as the officers failed to find any signs of forced stabbing and struggle. But the family refused to accept police reports and claimed that Hugues was murdered. Hugues de la Plaza’s father Francois de la Plaza took personal interest in the investigation. On Friday, November 13, 2009 Francois de la Plaza revealed a report of his own investigation through his attorney and declared that his son was murdered. His report contained proofs of his claim.
In his report, Francois mentioned some important points which support his claim that his son was murdered. He also mentioned the forensic facts which were prepared by Michael Ferenc. Michael Ferenc is registered forensic pathologist carried out the autopsy of Hugues de la Plaza. The points which support Francois’s claim include:
- Hugues de la Plaza received three stabs and one of them was so severe that it caused his death immediately. The stab wound was present at the lower end of his neck on left side. This stab could not be made by a person himself.
- The bloody shoe prints present in the house suggests a second person’s presence in the house at the time of the killing. The pattern of the drops found at the concrete wall also suggests that a second person has plunged the knife in de la Plaza’s neck and has removed it again.
There were several other points in the report which supported Francois’ claim that Hugues was murdered. The question, however, remains if he was murdered his killer/murderer is still wandering in the streets and could make anyone his prey.
