Ian McLagan

Ian McLagan is a very popular musician and he always tries to plan his flight back to the town only during those hours that he could find a particular little Thai restaurant opened on his arrival in Thailand which is around seven miles away towards east from the airport. He said I do not go there for only some good Thai foods but I like to stay in the bar of that restaurant with Dick Simcoe which has been made in the backside of restaurant.

Ian McLagan further said, I always feel that I am a guest in his home. He said that if Dick was an owner of such a wonderful bar in England then definitely its place would be the best bar where people always wanted to go to. Unfortunately Dick Simcoe has passed away due to the stomach cancer on Thursday morning June 11, 2009. He was planning to celebrate his 75th birthday on Friday June 12.

McLagan said that Simcoe was an outstanding gentleman and had a great family. McLagan was regular to his bar since 1995 when they moved to Manor with Kim (his late wife). He said once I was coming to the bar with my wife and while I was driving I wrote a song especially about coming to this bar. And I included this song “Date With an Angel” in my album “Rise and Shine” which was launched in 2004.

Simcoe’s funeral was on Saturday June 13 at 3 pm in South Austin at Harrell Funeral Home.
