India Vs Australia 5th ODI Highlights 2009,
Another nail biting contest went in favor of ODI World Champions. Australia beat India for just 3 runs in the last over of the match. The Rajiv Gandhi Stadium was jam packed on November 5th for the match between Australia and India. The series was equally balanced as both teams won two matches each before the 5th encounter. The little master is back again as he scored his 45th ODI century and reached the milestone of 17,000 runs in One day International Cricket.
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. They gained all their confidence by winning last ODI. They started very well, the opening partnership of 145 between Shaun Marsh and Shane Watson set the innings on the right track. All the bowlers looked helpless during the first half of the Australian inning. Finally Bhaji did the trick and managed to get Watson out.
If the World Champions gets off with a good start, how can Ponting the captain keep quite? He came one down and continued to establish a good partnership to have a good score on the board at the end of the inning. At last Parveen Kumar bowled out Ricky Ponting in 39th over of the match and the score was 236 for just 2. Mean while Marsh reached to his well played century, he was caught by Gambhir on the bowling of Nehra as the batters were going after the bowlers. Marsh scored 112 with the same number of balls. Camron White played out an innings from nowhere. He smashed the Indian bowlers all over the ground and he reached his half century while consuming only 33 balls. He hit the ball out of the ground through Arial route for five times. Mike Hussy, the tricky man scored 31 on 22 balls and Indian bowlers failed to send him out.
Well, finally with an overall performance of the batsmen, the Australian set a score of 350 for India to chase.
India started quite confidently with the bat as Sehwag and Tendulkar opened the innings as they scored very quickly. Sehwag was out for 38 with a total score of 66 on the board in just 8.5 over’s. Not only Gambhir was in a hurry to get back to the pavilion, 6 other players failed to entre the double figures.
Guess who was the man out of the lot to take India to almost near to the target, it’s the little master. He was all over the ground with his another master blaster. He scored 175 runs off 144 with dozen of classic boundaries. Little master once again had an eye on the world record of highest individual total but he didn’t make it.
Well, after the last match between India and Australia, little confusion gets clear and the performance of Australia and Sachin Tendulkar shuts the critics’ mouths. It was perceived that the World Champions are almost at their decline and same the case with the Tendulkar. Both proved the perceptions wrong.
The only thing which was missing in the Indian team was a combined performance, if couple of other batsmen get clicked, the results could be entirely different.
