Iowa Transportation Department is giving updated road conditions news as the Iowa state sees its winter snow.
Iowa DOT (Department of Transportation) is providing up-to-date news about road conditions in the state’s different regions as the snow storm takes over it. According to the current update, many roads are fully covered while others are partially covered with ice. Iowa DOT has published a road map on its site which gives a detailed outlook about the road conditions. The map provides information about the roads which are wet or covered with snow. It also gives information about the roads which have been closed due to bad conditions. According to the most recent update, Iowa interstate 35, Interstate 80, Interstate 235, US 6, US 30, and US 65 highways are completely covered with snow. The road conditions on several other highways are also not favorable for driving as they are covered with a mixture of ice and slush. Iowa DOT issues continuous updates about roads and advises the road travelers to check its website before making a journey. On Thanksgiving, Iowa DOT published warnings about careful driving as the holiday season has had the most number of accidents over the decade. DOT warned the travelers to check with the department’s website for updated road conditions.
Iowa state is seeing the season’s first heavy snow storm this week. Weather forecasters have predicted 1-2 inches of snow in Iowa by early Monday and have warned about a major storm which would hit the state by Tuesday or Wednesday. The storm will be pushed into Iowa after hitting Kansas and Nebraska on Monday night. Warnings have been published by weather agencies and road users are advised to drive carefully specially on turns as roads offer less resistant due to snow and slush.
