At about 10 p.m. as users tried to open their twitter accounts, all the site had been gone. A message was displayed on the screen claiming the site has been hacked by “Iranian Cyber Army”. There was no sign of familiar twitter interface and instead a black screen was displayed with red colored heading showing the message that the site has been compromised by Iranian Cyber Army. Below the message is green flag with the name of a religious Head. And above the flag a message is written in blue color translated as “And, no doubt God’s Army (Hezbollah) would remain superior”
Below the flag there are Persian verses. There is also a message in somewhat broken English by the group claiming to be Iranian Cyber Army that they are in control of the Internet traffic instead of America and thus U.S should not attempt provoking them. The message further said that by the action it is clear that American is not putting sanctions on Iran and it is reverse.
The same green flag and message appears on the following site
Mawjcam dot Org.
The story is still developing and we would post any updates to the story as soon as we receive them.
In an update the twitter is back online, however the other site mentioned above is still not back.
Twitter remains favorite with Iranians. The attack by Iranian Cyber Army came as twitter was extensively used in protests against Iranian President Mr Ahmedinejad.
Even Google Bot picked the message and instead of usual twitter message below the title of the site , message by Iranian Cyber Army was displayed.
