Kell Lee Jarka and Isabelle Jarka’s story would be featured on ABC’s 20/20 today. The channel has made clear that broadcasting the story of a convicted killer is not meant to change court’s opinion about him; rather it’s an effort to show the working of judicial system and straight presentation of facts before the general public.
According to the details of the case Kell Lee Jarka was married to Isabelle Jarka for 20 years. In April 2008, as he entered his home he found the dead body of his wife Isabelle in a pool of blood.
As the case started, it was found that Kell was deep into the financial troubles. He was the only beneficiary of the $1.3 Million insurance policy. He maintained that he was not in the house at the time of his wife’s murder. An autopsy remained inconclusive to fix the time of murder. Isabelle Jarka had received fatal blows on her cranium with some sharp object. Police also couldn’t find the instrument with which Isabelle was murdered. Police said that there are many loop holes in Kell’s alibi, and they built a criminal case that was almost entirely based on circumstantial evidence.
As the Judge read out his sentence, he called Jarka an evil man. Isabelle’s family members were also very vocal in blaming Kell. However the case was so weak that Isabelle’s brother was of the view that with that case he would soon be freed.
The believers of his innocence have developed a website to collect much needed funds for him to file an appeal.
