Jahvid Best of California got seriously injured during a match against Oregon State in Saturday’s football game. A silent, solemn crowd watched Jahvid Best being wheeled off of the field.
When 6 minutes and 7 seconds were left in the first half and California was trailing a score of 14-0, Jahvid Best took the handoff from California’s Quarter Back Kevin Riley and turned left towards the end zone. Just when he was about to reach the goal line to make a touchdown, Oregon States’ Tim Clark got close to him to stop him. Best took a leap over him and while he was in the air Cameron Collins took him down to the ground. Best was almost five feet in the air when he was coming down to the ground. He turned his body to hit the turf and scored a goal but then went motionless. The cheering crowd got silent. Doctors and paramedical staff ran towards the field along with Best’s family members and the crowd gathered around him. A wheel cart and a stretcher were then brought into the field and Best was taken to the ambulance on the stretcher.
Although no official news have been released about his medical condition, the word is spread that Best had a severe concussion but is now improving. He has been admitted to Highland Hospital in Oakland.
The injury delayed the match 13 minutes in the second quarter. Cal lost the match against Oregon State with a score of 31-14.
