James and the Giant Peach are coming to Watermill Theatre. James and the Giant Peach by Watermill Theatre is an attempt to show something different in the crowd of usual pantomimes being shown in Christmas holidays.
A not so Christmassy story by Roald Dahl; is funny enough to leave a feeling of goodness especially at its end. The script is produced by David Wood and it is directed by Anna Linstrum. Although going astray from the tradition of showing something relating to Christmas holidays, the Watermill Theatre will keep its tradition of bringing the cast on stage with musical numbers to perform.
The plot of James and the Giant Peach revolves around young James played by Nadim Naaman. James’ parents are eaten by a rhinoceros in Regent Street-London and James is forced to be brought up by her two selfish aunts Spike and Sponge. These true to their type aunts give James Dickensian treatment.
A giant peach tree appears in the backyard garden like a helping hand for the poor boy and James discovers a new world of fantastic creatures inside the tree. James found huge insects and other animal kingdom living in the Stone Age there. The best of all; they are all friendly with James and want him to become their friend.
Old-Green-Grasshopper, Lady Bird, Centipede, Earthworm and Miss Spider all are there to add fun to the story.
The director and her team have done justice to the story and happily one may enjoy a few moments of thought and pleasure while watching James and the Giant Peach.
