James Ray, the self-help guru was arrested on Wed on manslaughter accusation in the dying of 3 people on a sweat lodge ceremonial occasion.
Sheriff Waugh gave a statement saying that after the James Ray arrest he desired that the families of the 3 people will now have some amount of closing to the disaster.
James Ray was arrested in Prescot at his lawyer’s office.
James Ray was leading a “cleansing” ceremony at the Angel Valley Retreat Center when three of the participants were killed and eighteen were injured
On the five-day retreat called the Spiritual Warrior, the participating people were driven to their bodily and spiritual boundaries by fasting for thirty-six hrs and jam packing into a four hundred and fifteen square foot, sauna-like shack which was basically a wooden framework covered in tarpaulins and blankets. The participants were fainting and throwing up, but nonetheless pressed to remain inside the sweat lodge. James Ray charged approximately nine thousand dollars from every participant.
Afterwards, James Ray, who has also written a book, showed his grief but persisted in doing his work, stating that he wished to know what, caused this atrocious tragedy too.
The attorney of James Ray released a statement on Wed telling the accusations should not have been lodged because they are unfair and they will prove this in the court house. James Ray collaborated with the authorities all the time, offering info and attestants, proving that none one could tell this will happen. The statement added that they are convinced that Mr. Ray will be discharged.
