According to the reports, world’s oldest women died at the age of 115 today at Western Convalescent Hospital, Los Angeles. Gertrude Baines, who was born in 1894, was the woman who lived a longest a life after the death of Maria de Jesus. Before Maria de Jesus and Gertrude Baines, Jeanne louise Calment was awarded the titles of oldest woman of the world. Jeanne louise Calment dies at the age of 122 in August 1997. Guinness Book of World Record titled Jeanne louise Calment world’s oldest woman as well as the oldest person ever lived. Jeanne louise Calment was blind at the time of her death and was living in nurse home.
Gertrude Baines, however, was in quite good health at the time of her death. Her caretaker at the hospital reported that her health was pretty good, her brain was alert, and she gave smiles occasionally. Gertrude commented on her 100th birthday that she has enjoyed the life a lot and that she would not mind living another 100 years. Gertrude also remarked that she had had a diet of crispy bacon, fried chicken, and ice cream steadily and that she watches The Jerry Springer Show with great interest. She celebrated her last birthday in April with cakes, music, cheers, and a letter from Obama.
It has been reported that Gertrude Baines died of heart attack. However, an autopsy is due this week to find out the real causes of her death.
Though Gertrude Baines was titled as the oldest living women, Jeanne louise Calment is still the oldest person ever lived.
