Jennifer Nettles full and complete name is “Jennifer Odessa Nettles” her birth date is Sep12, 1974. She was born in Douglas, Georgia. She is the lead singer for “Sugarland” along side with Kristian Bush.
Jennifer has the singing passion from her early child hood. Jennifer’s mother said that she use to sing the entire song with the radio. December of 1981, was the year when she actually performed a children musical for their church and was appreciated by the music director and told her mother that her voice is a gift from GOD to her. By the start of 1982, she showed her talent in church and club in her county.
In 1984 Georgia 4-H’s Clovers and Company came to Douglas to South GA College for auditions (Jennifer’s College). Jennifer sang “God Bless the USA” later she became the youngest member of the group.
In fall of 1993 she joined Agnes Scott College to become a graduate. Jennifer formed the band “Jennifer Odessa Nettles” she released 3 studio and 2 live albums with the group. Jennifer Odessa Nettles band won “The Big Deal $100,000 Music Search” in 1999.
Jennifer formed the group “Sugarland” teaming up with Kristen Hall and Kristian Bush the band was nominated for a Grammy in 2006 under the category of “Best New Artist” but was unable to win the award. In the same year a duet performance took them to the Number one Billboard Hot Country Charts the duet was performed with the rock band Bon Jovi.
Sugarland’s third album named as “Love on the Inside” was released on 22nd July, 2008.
Once again on December 2008, their group “Sugarland” received three Grammy Award nominations.
Jennifer not only is a good singer but has done work for charity too Jennifer has worked and supported many non-profit organizations.
Sugarland’s CMT Change for Change tour in 2007, 1$ from each ticket was donated to charity Organization. In only 2007, over $120,000 were raised by the group. Once again in 2008 she started a series of musical events named as “Common Thread” making many artists to come together and share music to raise money for the charity.
They have won the awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Performance in February 8, 2009 by Group.
She and her group has done a great deeds up till now we hope they stick to each other like this and keep on doing the good work.
