The 35-year-old Jennifer Nettles performed on the melodies of Bruce Springsteen on 6th December in presence of President Obama first lady and Vice President Joe Biden at the 34th Annual Kennedy Center Honors. It was Jennifer Nettles’ tribute to Bruce Springsteen, who was recently honoured with Kennedy Center Honors.
Jennifer Nettles performance on Springsteen’s “Glory Days”, “I’m On Fire” and “My Father’s House” compositions that shows the sheer versatility of his melodies.
The U.S Grammy award winner country musician Jennifer Nettles joined the list of those performers who performed in front of the United States President. Charley Pride, Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley are few other names who have performed in front of the President in White House earlier this year.
The other inductees for Kennedy Center Honors for the year 2009 apart from rock singer Bruce Springsteen are actor Robert DeNiro, opera singer Grace Bumbry, jazz pianist Dave Brubeck and comedian, producer, screenwriter Mel Brooks.
All the inductees for Kennedy Center Honors were recognized individually from their life-time contributions to American culture through performing arts. The host for the show was Caroline Kennedy.
Artists other then Jennifer Nettles who performed at the event to honor the inductees were Eddie Vedder, Jack Black, Edward Norton, Matthew Broderick, Carl Reiner, Harvey Keitel, Harry Connick, Martin Short, Jr., Aretha Franklin, Meryl Streep, Herbie Hancock, Ben Stiller, Melissa Etheridge, Sting, Sharon Stone, John Mellencamp, Ben Harper and Frank Langella.
The two hour show was aired by CBS TV, Yesterday on 29th December.
