The Braves are in the middle of a trade which will exchange Rafael Soriano for Tampa Bay Rays’ Jesse Chavez. However, it is not an official deal. Sports news channels have commented on the deal and suggests that there might be secret exchange of information related to medical matters. Some others have suggested that there is an involvement of cash exchange as well. They say that Tampa Bay rays would receive cash from Atlanta in the result of the trade. Since Rafael Soriano is assigned player of Braves, his permission is essential for the trade. Soriano accepted the arbitration from Braves earlier this week for a salary of $7 million.
According to the news from insiders, the announcement of the trade deal of Jesse Chavez for Rafael Soriano would be made by Thursday. It is also expected that Soriano will be receiving a salary deal of $6.5, non-guaranteed for one year with Rays.
Jesse Chavez made 73 appearances for Pirates in the past season and made record of 47 strikeouts and issued 22 walks. He has posted a 4.01 ERA. If the trades is finalized, as it is expected, it would Jesse Chavez’ second unofficial trade. Previously, Jesse Chavez was traded to Tampa Bay Rays in November. Chavez was exchanged for Tampa’s Akinori Iwamura.
