It just couldn’t have been worse. A nine years old girl was abducted at about 3 a.m. in the morning from her home in Homosassa, Florida and taken to a trailer parked nearby. She was raped repeatedly and then “buried alive”. Jessica Lunsford was abducted on February 24, 2005. Her body was recovered from a hole dug in the ground on 19th March, 2005. Jessica’s two fingers had been without flesh, which were visible outside the plastic bag. Apparently she had made a hole in the bag to breathe. The case received very intense media focus. A controversial foundation was formed in her name which pursued the authorities to pass a bill bearing her name, putting harder restrictions on pedophiles like John Couey who murdered Jessica Lunsford.
As the cosmic drama unfolded Jessica’s brother Joshua was caught in a sexual act with a minor. Jessica’s whole family came under criticism for their inappropriate behavior. Locals alleged Lunsfords for the murder of their daughter. According to them if they been better parents, Jessica would have been alive and thriving.
John Couey was sentenced to death along with three life times in prison. Yesterday, John Couey died of natural causes in prison. The prison authorities did not revealed the full details of the circumstances in which he died, citing a federal law forbidding them to do so. He has been said to be seriously ill during past weeks and has been taken to the4 hospital.
