Jim Jones Massacre is the example of a brutal slaying incident which took place in US some three decades back. There have been myths and fabricated stories about the incident but the real cause behind the massacre is agreed upon.
Jim Jones was the father of a Catholic church. He was strictly against the idea of capitalism. He increased the number of followers by his influencing speeches and preaching skill. When there were enough number of people on his side, he decided to migrate to a place where the community developed a small town named Jonestown. Over there, they used to condemn the notion of capitalism and make plans to get riddance of it.
On the eighteenth day of November in the annum ’78, a representative of the Congress named Leo Ryan from California decided to make a trip to Jonestown and listen to the complains of inhabitants regarding the issue of capitalism. When he arrived, some of the followers of Jim Jones warned him to leave the area or he will be put to death, to which Ryan paid no heed. After interviewing and spending time with the people, when Ryan was about to leave, he and four of his guards were shot dead by the extreme followers of Jim Jones. This was the start of Jim Jones massacre. During the exchange of bullets in the battle, more than ninety people were killed viciously.
