Kathryn Dawn Lang better known as K. D. Lang made a guest appearance on the winter Olympics opening ceremony with the world renown song ” Hallelujah” originally written by Leonard Cohen. The ceremony which commenced at six o’ clock in the evening, local time, was opened by the Governor Michaelle Jean who is also the Queens representative.
K. D. Lang was born on the second day of November in the annum 1961 to Audrey and Fred Lang. K. D. Lang has been an active singer and performer since the annum 1984 and was born in the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta, Edmonton.
K. D. Lang was one of the few performers to be given the opportunity to sing at such a momentous moment which marked British Columbia’s first ever hosting of the winter Olympics.
K. D. Lang’s musical prowess was first acknowledged when she became a part of Roy Orbison’s group singing in the background alongside two other back up singers. Her career took to the upturn when she was chosen by Roy to sing alongside him in his song “Crying.” The performance would win them her first ever Grammy Award in the year 1989 for the Best Country Collaboration with Vocals title.
Since then she has won three more Grammy Awards, her most recent achievement coming in the year 2003 when she was offered the Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. This award was granted to her and Tony Bennett who released an album in the year 2002 which went by the name of “A Wonderful World”.
