A senior cheerleader of Oregon got hurt during the match and was hospitalized immediately. Oregon cheerleader was recognized as Katelynn Johnson.
According to the details, Katelynn Johnson was hit by a bottle full of water from a nearby stand when Oregon Ducks beat Arizona after a double overtime. She was hit on the sideline and went unconscious. Before going unconscious, Katelynn Johnson walked a little on the grass but fainted later. She was taken out of the stadium on a stretcher and was later admitted into the hospital. According to the initial medical reports, Katelynn Johnson is out of critical condition and that her health will be improved soon. Katelynn Johnson is a graduate of Thurston High School and was a senior cheerleader at Oregon.
Katelynn Johnson was not the only Oregon member who was hit by the aggressive crowd. The senior athletic director of Oregon, Joe Giansante, said that many items including battery and water bottles were thrown at the team when they won the game. He said that when Ms. Johnson went unconscious many were frightened and scared. He said that such an attack was an uncivilized act and praised the Tucson police who handled the situation quickly.
Giansante and the team coach announced that no student was involved in the riot. They said that many students went back after the overtime calmly and they didn’t create any incident.
