The plot of the film Paranormal is woven around a couple Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston, who have shifted into their new home. The new house happens to be haunted. The essence of the movie is not in the plot or the story but in the way it has been shot. The film is shot in most unusual circumstances. There is no cinematographer for the film and the main characters of the movie Katie and Micah have taken their turn behind the camera.
As the couple shifts to new location they discover something unusual is going on. Micah puts forward the idea of planting a cam-corded to record the activity. The camera is fitted in the bed room. A recording camera makes Katie very uncomfortable. She is as much disturbed by the camera as for the paranormal activity. Katie has faced something hunting her from her childhood and it is possible that the present activity is just the manifestation of the same activity. Whatever be the reason Micah has made the decision to tape, whatever is wrong. The recording shot in the night is scrutinized by the couple in the morning. First night of recording, there is a mysterious noise in the tape and second night the noise is clearer than the previous night.
The creaking sounds come, things start moving by themselves and scratching sounds come, as we watch the same movie which the couple is watching, it makes the scenario as much scarier for us as for Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat. The difficulties are compounded by the couple’s bitterness over the whole situation. Katie wants a professional to check their house to suggest a solution while Micah wants the recording to go on.
A low budget film superbly carried out by the Director. A perfect gift on this Halloween.
