Koi Pond gardens are the chosen public area administered by the Borough of Poole. Most of the gardens are located in Bournemouth. A sensational stream passes through the garden with very beautiful trees on its banks. The banks of the stream are covered with Weeping Willow and other trees enhancing the charm of the verdant garden. In 1935, the gardens were leased for 999 years from Robert Ives of Erpingham. In 1940, the gardens were handed over for the purpose of war. The residual land area was given to Pleasure Gardens in 1951. Since then they have offered public a very charming place. Koi Pond and gardens surround an area of nine acres. Although the stream is very asymmetrical yet the ugliest portion of the stream is the expanse of garden around the stream which approaches to railway embankment and its water becomes deeper at the cemented edges. At this part of the stream the water looks filthy and the beauty of the garden is eclipsed. Due to this factor, visitors rarely go there. In 2002, public opinion was invited by the partnership in order to rectify the deficiency and improve the location. The meeting offered four options for the management of water quality as well as the preservation of vegetation and wildlife. The improved drainage system and the introduction of cable car for visitors were the acceptable options. The drainage system was based on the concept of sustainable drainage system. The name of the area is modified to Bourne Pools.
