The Labor Day is celebrated in the United States on the first Monday of the September. While the international Labor Day is celebrated on the 1st of May, the Labor Day in the United States is celebrated on the 1st Monday of September.
The people in the country do demand they would like to have better opportunities for themselves than just a holiday to relax. Normally it is celebrated by sitting at home watching TV or a new movie etc.
The history of his day is very serious. The day was celebrated on the 5th of September, 1882 in the city of NY. It was announced a federal holiday after twelve years of the first labor day. A big number of workers were at strike due to some reasons when they were killed by the U.S marshals and the U.S military. The strike is known as the Pullman strike. The president at that time put the reconciliation with labor movement of that time considering it a top political priority.
The president and the government feared further conflict with the workers who were at strike, so they announced the day a holiday. A bill was sent to the congress and it was signed after a week of the end of the strike. All of the fifty states of the United States also declared it a national holiday.
