Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains a film by Rhino Entertainment was release back in 1981. The film was about three teenage girls and their punk band. The film stars were Duane Lane, Ray Winstone, Laura Dern, ex-sex pistols member Steve Jones and Paul Simonon from the band “The Clash”. The movie was shot in Canada. Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains, only received a limited theatrical release in 1982. Denver and Colorado were the states where a test screening was held, but with poor results.
Tobi Vail said that “Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains” was the most pragmatic and thoughtful movie he has ever seen.
Though the film was never widely released, but in 1985 it was presented at Theatre Of The Living Arts in Philadelphia, then in the same year it made it at the Film Forum in New York City. Celebrated record producer and music business manager Lou Adler directed “Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains”.
The film was released on DVD by Rhino Home Video on 16th September, 2008. Once again the movie was presented at Alamo Draft House, Ritz in Austin, TX, for a 2 day preview from 1 to 8 December, 2008.
Most recently “Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains” was aired on TCM “Turner Classic Movies” on 31th January, 2009 on Friday. The movie is about three teenage girls, getting together to form a punk rock band and gets their 15 minutes of fame before crashing and burning out.
