The Eagle Scout Mathew Whalen is suspended from the Lansingburgh Central High school for keeping a tiny knife in his bag. Armed Forces Academy is quite apprehensive about the academic loss of the school boy which may cause barrier in his career.
The public has demonstrated great criticism and resistance on the action taken by the Lansingburgh Central High school authorities and are of the firm view that the decision is absolutely unjust if common-sense is used to see the merits of the case.
The Lansingburgh Central High school, authorities are on the back foot and defensively arguing that the school believes in strict rules as far as the deadly weapons are concerned. But as the facts of the case revealed, he kept the knife in his bag which was further kept in his car. He told that he accompanies with him few eatables and a knife in the car to have some refreshment but the plea given by the scout couldn’t hold him innocent just because the school believes in Zero-tolerance for possessing such things which are strictly banned in the school.
The school suspended him for five days initially but it enhanced the punishment by adding 15 more days. The director of admissions for Lansingburgh Central High school, told that it is not “breaking news” but a slight regulatory action on a trivial offence and a routine matter. He refused to accept the criticism by the public that the punishment would cause an “irreparable” academic loss to the scout.
